A new home – Gorman House Arts Centre

I’ve given up my beloved home office for a few months while we build a new one (and hence a new house to go with it). In the meantime, I’ve taken up a space at Canberra’s iconic Gorman House Arts Centre. One of Canberra’s oldest buildings, Gorman House was constructed in the 1920s as hostel accomodation for the lowest paid […]

My life right now

First draft done!

I just finished the first draft of what will hopefully become by new novel. It’s horribly inconsistent, and barely coherent in parts, but it’s DONE! Roll on the rewriting process…after a good lie down.

The prodigal author returns…to Canberra

Whew! April was quite the month for me. Because only a few days after I flew back from the Somerset Celebration of Literature, I moved from Melbourne to Canberra. 2013 is shaping up to be a very exciting year for yours truly, because I already have not one but two new book deals lined up! The first project is something entirely different for me – a historical novel. A new addition to Penguin’s outstanding stable of Australian historical fiction for children, this action-packed novel […]

For he’s a smelly good fellooow…and so say all of us! It’s a very happy book birthday to my latest junior novel The Great Stinkathlon. As of today, Marty’s brand-new ‘Smelympic’-themed adventure is available to buy in paperback from all good bookstores and websites. And for the first time ever, you can get your fart-based […]

Hello, world.

Hi there, and welcome to the brand-new website of Simon Mitchell. Simon Mitchell the author, that is. If you’re looking for Simon Mitchell the diving physician, Simon Mitchell the patent attorney or Simon Mitchell the Professor of Sedimentary Geology, then I’m sorry to say you’re in the wrong place. If, however, you are interested in the […]
